Select the right organisational culture for 2017

January 6, 2017

Kick 2017 off by looking at the most important element in your organisation – your people!

Edgar Schein (1985) defines Organisational Culture as “a pattern of basic assumptions invented, discovered or adopted by a given group as it learns to cope with its problems of external adaption and internal integration that has worked well enough to be considered valid, and therefore, to be taught to new members as the correct way to perceive, think and feel in relation to those problems”.

Answer the following questions honestly and see how your team fares!

Assess your culture on a scale of 1-5 (1 lowest and 5 highest)

1. Innovation and risk-taking?
2. Attention to detail?
3. Results and stability orientation?
4. People orientation?

These questions are designed to speak to the four key metrics of organisational culture. If you get a score of 3 or lower in any of the questions then read further…
